Review: The Soup Spoon

We’re stopping over at The Soup Spoon for the day for some comfort food to warm our stomach. This week’s treasure food review goes to the popular Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff Soup and the Chicken Ham and Cheese Sandwich set ($14.90++). *not a sponsored article*

The Velvety Mushroom Stronganoff Soup

We ordered takeout as who doesn’t like to just lounge at home while enjoying a warm hearty meal? Even though it’s takeout, the thick mushy mushroom soup is still as warm as it can be — smoke was coming out of it hot hot hot! After giving it a gentle stir, the fragrance of the tender mushrooms drifted into our nose. The soup has a luscious and velvety texture with distinct finely chopped mushrooms in it. The soup melts in our mouth and soothes our stomachs with every slurp. It’s the perfect unison of the earthiness of the mushrooms, slight creaminess and fragrance of herbs. Definitely one of the top mushroom soups we had over the years! The best thing about The Soup Spoon is that it comes with a soft and chewy wholemeal bread which complements the soup.

Chicken Ham and Cheese Sandwich

A thin slice of ham, melted cheese, freshly cut crisp lettuce and two pieces of tomato are sandwiched between two slices of oatmeal bread. A dull crunch is made as we bit into the sandwich. It’s a mouthful of sweet and salty flavours from both the ham and the cheese. The vegetables added extra sweetness to the sandwich and the baked bread was extremely crusty and slightly flaky. Overall, a very decent sandwich to pair with the soup.

The Verdict

All in all, it was a decent and comforting meal for the stomach. The portions are pretty large so it is very filling. We recommend getting the set meal whereby you can choose whether you would prefer having salad, sandwich or flatbread to go with your choice of soup. Additionally, you can purchase the ready-made packet soup at any The Soup Spoon restaurants or even at supermarkets! All you need to do is just boil it and enjoy. Looks like we’ll start frequenting The Soup Spoon for their other soups (e.g. Pumpkin, Clam Chowder).
