Located in the heartlands of Jurong East, The Carving Board Grill, an “atas” Western Restaurant is situated beneath a HDB block. The Sight
The dish came with pale yellow arborio rice and is plated with a generous amount of grilled mushrooms, freshly grated parmesan cheese and a few slices of green lettuce.
The Smell
The fragrant aroma of truffles from the truffle oil was pretty strong when first served, coupled with a slight smoky scent from the mushrooms. The dish had an earthy, mushroomy and cheesy smell in general.
The Taste
The grilled mushrooms were slightly charred to enhance the flavour of the dish with its smokiness. Moreover, it was very soft and fresh. Similarly, the grains of rice used to make the risotto was mushy and melts in one mouth. With one spoonful of this dish, there was a burst of flavours consisting of the right amount of creaminess from the risotto sauce, tanginess from the vinegar salad, a bit of saltiness from the cheese, sweetness and a slight bitterness from the mushrooms. Overall, It was indeed an umami-filled Italian dish!
The Sound
Once we finished savouring every bit of the dish, the only sound that could be heard is the ringing sound as your spoon scraped against the glassware.
The Verdict
Definitely worth a visit to The Carving Board Grill! They offer a wide variety of grilled food options such as Grilled Chicken, Pork and even Steak. They also serve pastas which include Aglio Olio, Seafood Marinara spaghetti, etc. Even though the prices seem to be expensive given that it is located at a HDB block, the place has a cosy family-like ambience. There's also no service charge. The food also comes in generous portions and it is quite filling for one serving. Be sure to arrive early as it can be extremely packed during the peak hours.
