We’re taking you to the USA with OverEasy at 1 Fullerton Road with their classic American dishes! Located just by the Singapore River, we were greeted by the beautiful sweeping views of the river banks and of Marina Bay. We ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger ($25++) and 6 pieces of Spicy Buffalo Wings [Level 1] ($17++).
The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger ($25++)
You might have heard or tasted the McDonald’s Buttermilk Crispy Chicken but it’s nothing compared to the one served at OverEasy. The burger is made up of a soft potato bun, similar to the ones at Shakeshack and sandwiched between cold coleslaw, chipotle mayonnaise and 2 patties of deep-fried chicken. The sides include one large pickled zucchini and fries that were topped with shredded white cheddar cheese. The batter of the golden-fried chicken was crispy and the meat was extremely tender and juicy. The coleslaw and the Mexican-style orangy mayonnaise added sweetness, a tinge of spiciness and moisture to the chicken patty to prevent it from being too dry. It would have been better if more veggies such as a few slices of lettuce or tomato is added making it a burger that’s to die for!
Spicy Buffalo Wings [Level 1] ($17++)
Coated with spicy hot sauce and spring onions, the Spicy Buffalo Wings, served piping hot, was a mix of spiciness and tanginess. It was plated with a small cup of off-white coloured dipping sauce and a few slices of freshly cut cucumbers and carrots. With the moist outer due to the sauce, the inside of the wings was very succulent. If you’re a spice lover, you can opt for the 2 other levels (Hot stuff - Level 2 or Crazy Mofo - Level 3). However, non-spice eats can still enjoy these delicious wings by dipping them into the sauce to calm those flames down as it contains a mix of tartar and lemon juice.
The Verdict
OverEasy is a place where you can relax, feast on your favourite American dishes and enjoy the evening breeze with the amazing view of Marina Bay. The ambience makes you feel as if you’re right in the hearts of LA! One tip is to order a few dishes and share them among your friends or family as the food can be a bit on the pricey side. Do note that the restaurant can be very packed, especially during dinner time so if possible, we recommend you reserve a table in advance.
