White Chocolate Earl Grey Tea Cake ($9.50)
The White Chocolate Earl Grey Tea Cake is a pink-whitish round-shaped mousse cake topped with a half-sliced strawberry, a blueberry and a raspberry. It has a pudding texture — smooth and slightly airy on the insides. Layered with vanilla sheets, you’re able to taste it mixed with the richness of the white chocolate. There’s a slight bitterness from the earl grey tea leaves which tones down sweetness. There’s also a refreshing citrus fragrance. The sponge cake at the bottom of the mousse gave it a firm base. The combination of white chocolate and earl grey is definitely a pleasant surprise!
Blueberry Yogurt Tart ($9.50)
A huge portion of blueberry yogurt is sandwiched between a layer of sponge cake and a slightly hardened flaky tart pastry. And topped off with a layer of yogurt whipped cream and blueberries. The pastel purple of the yogurt matches its texture – soft and creamy that melts in one’s mouth. The cream used was rich. When whipped together with blueberries, it adds to the exotic flavour of sweetness, sourness and a slight acidity. Double the blueberry treat by popping one in your mouth and take a spoonful of the yogurt tart!
The Verdict
Maison de PB by Paris Baguette is a cosy and suitable place for relaxing dates. Besides desserts, hot food is available on the 2nd floor of the cafe. Their shortcakes are known to have unexpected combinations for a pleasant surprise. A perfect example would be having yogurt in tarts or mixing banana with caramel.
