Review: IRVINS Salted Egg Noodles

Last December, our homegrown salted egg potato chips brand IRVINS, collaborated with the household famous instant noodle brand NISSIN, resulting in the birth of the Salted Egg Dry Mee Pok! It comes in 2 forms, a packet containing 5 individual servings of noodles or a single portion in a bowl, just like your ordinary NISSIN cup noodles.

Individually wrapped, each packet has a round block of dry noodles, 3 small sachets of seasoning oil, seasoning powder and egg yolk crumbs respectively.

The classic Mee Pok noodles were very chewy and smooth. Combining with the salted egg flavour, it was very rich in egg yolk and slightly buttery. A tinge of saltiness washes over your tongue on the first slurp of noodles but after which, you can taste the subtle creamy sweetness lingering in your tastebuds. With the additional topping of egg crumbs, it made the whole dish even richer and EGG-DICTIVE! Just like what the packet says, “This dish is dangerously-addictive!”, making you crave for more.

To cook it, follow the following steps:

  1. You simply need to boil water in a pot, throw in the noodles and cook it until soft.

  2. Sieve out the noodles in the boiling water and place them on a plate

  3. Pour the seasoning oil and powder into the steaming hot noodles

  4. Stir well

  5. Sprinkle the egg crumbs onto the top of the noodles

  6. Done and ready to serve!

*Tip: Do add some vegetables (e.g. lettuce), fry an egg and eat with any of your favourite side dishes! It will definitely be a filling and satisfying meal.*
