Review: Coexist Coffee

Located in the heartlands of Paya Lebar, we visited the aesthetically decorated 2-story Coexist Coffee Cafe at the Lifelong Learning Institute. Grey pebble stones and wooden bench tables filled the ground and complemented the clear-glass interior which welcomed the natural light. The interior of the cafe is reminiscent of alfresco dining. *not a sponsored article*

We ordered the Fungi Pasta and the Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Fungi Pasta ($20++)

This is definitely not one to miss for mushroom and truffle lovers! The dish consists of a tube-shaped pasta called rigatoni, truffle infused fresh brown mushrooms and topped with shredded parmesan cheese and spring onions. The truffles had an earthy and garlic-like taste due to the strong intensity and can be distinctly identified when eaten. The mushrooms were sweet, soft and infused with truffles. The tube shape of the rigatoni was able to trap the cream sauce, making every bite packed with the richness of cream, cheese and truffles. However, we felt that the pasta could be softer as it had a bit too much bite to it.

Pulled Pork Sandwich ($18++)

Soft, fluffy and buttery buns sandwiched the shredded slices of smokey barbecue pulled pork. Hints of sesame seeds can be seen on the top bun which added a touch of nuttiness to the whole flavourful ensemble. The thin slices of pork shoulder were tender and juicy. Paired with the thick barbecue sauce, there is a slight tanginess and sweetness of the pulled pork. A salad of freshly cut lettuce, corn, diced tomato and baked potatoes were served together with the sandwich.

The Verdict

Overall, food at Coexist Coffee is decent but can be slightly on the pricey side. If you are a fan of cafe hopping, you definitely have to try out the various pasta, pizza and even the desserts offered by Coexist Coffee! Coexist is definitely a place to take Instagrammable pictures with your friends and yourself. There are 3 branches in Singapore and every branch’s menu differs slightly. Do be aware that the maximum time for dine-in is 90 minutes. It’s also best to have a reservation in advance especially for groups of more than 2.
