Review: Arôme Honey Butter Toast

Can’t believe that it’s been a little over a year since we started this food jaunt. We started off eating our way around Singapore, but this year it’ll be something different. We brought one of us 10,845.29 km across the globe to experience food beyond the little red dot. That’s why at least for this upcoming year, we’ll be able to bring the best taste of both worlds — Singapore & London.

Here’s to our very first outbound Food Jaunt!

Arôme is a bakery featuring bakes with french-baking techniques while drawing ingredients from Asian cuisine. And yes, this bakery definitely has some Singaporean roots. It’s opened by prolific Singaporean restaurateur Ellen Chew and master patissier Alix Andrea. Being away from home, we’ll take anything that is distantly related to Singapore. HAHAHA.

Alright! Getting back on track. We tried the Arôme Honey Butter Toast!

The Sight

The Aröme Honey Butter Toast isn’t just your average toast. It’s extra thick, maybe about 2.5 to 3 cm in thickness with a brownish colour that looks like caramel. It’s also slightly shiny on the surface.

The Smell

The smell of caramel, sugar and honey in a bakery on a chilly day. The sweetness just makes it all warm and fuzzy.

The Sound

As we flick our fingers on the hardened toast, a crisp and hollow sound is made. But it really isn’t that hard as we take our first bite. Its crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. The different textures just add excitement and variety to the experience.

The Taste

It’s like tasting a spoonful of honey, the sweetness never ends. You’ll find yourself savouring every bit of the sweetness until the very last bite.

The Verdict

We would say that Honey Butter Toast is definitely our sweetness overload. Perfect for days where you just need that sugar rush to keep you going. Even though it’s just a slice of toast, it’s actually very filling. Best pair with a bitter cup of hot coffee or tea. We can’t wait to head there again for more pastry ventures!
