Review: All Day Breakfast Club

It’s cafe-hopping again! This time we’re visiting the All Day Breakfast Club at Holland Village!

The standalone diner is an expansion from its original hawker stall located in Kovan. With its retro interior and colourful sign, you’ll definitely not miss it at the corner on the street.

Not gonna lie, who doesn’t like a cafe with instagrammable interiors and food?! But that doesn’t mean that we’ll be lenient towards the food quality in our little jaunt here.

The menu offers an array of food that caters to just about every appetite. We ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffle ($11.90), the All Star Plate with French Toast ($12.90) and a rosti ($9.90). For beverages and refreshments, we got Pink Lemonade ($3.90), Mixed Berry Iced Tea ($4.90) and Earl Grey Citrus Iced Tea ($4.90).

Egg Sausage Rosti

The egg sausage rosti comes in a simple plating – with a sunny side up and a sausage. It was the first dish to be served. Overall, the sausage and rosti are on the saltier side so it pairs well with the mildly seasoned egg.

All Star Plate with French Toast

They weren’t kidding when they named it the All Star Plate. There’s bacon, sausage, baked beans, potato, scrambled eggs, mushroom and, of course, french toast. Everything that you can think of when the word “breakfast” comes up is on that plate. Refillable maple syrup is also provided for those with a sweet tooth who want to dip their toast in it. There’s a balance between the saltiness of the bacon, sausage and potato and the relatively milder tasting scrambled eggs, mushrooms, baked beans and sweet french toast. The best part of it all is that you can pick up a different item every time with your fork. With a huge proportion, this item is definitely a heavyweight and it’s best shared with 2.

Fried Chicken and Waffle

The combination of fried chicken and waffle is definitely an unorthodox one but nonetheless delicious. The fried chicken has a crispy outer layer, with perfectly juicy insides. It’s well seasoned and has a taste that is quite similar to KFC’s popcorn chicken that’s fresh out of the fryer. It is pepperish, salty and savoury. The contrast to it would be the softer waffle drizzled with maple syrup.

The Drinks

The Mixed Berry Iced Tea and Earl Grey Citrus Iced Tea were pretty much the standard tea. Something interesting would be the Pink Lemonade. It has a syrupy taste, quite similar to children’s fever medicine. So if you’re a fan of liquid medicine or traumatised by it in your childhood, this drink might jog your memory. And the rim of the cup is coated with sugar, so you might find your cup getting a little sticky as the condensation drips down.

The Verdict

All Day Breakfast Club is definitely a cafe with an aesthetic interior and affordable food with a great variety to choose from on the menu. One special thing is that every dish that we’ve tried so far seems to have a balance between strong and bland tasting items in it.
