The History of Yahava KoffeeWorks

Yahava KoffeeWorks was founded in 2001 in Australia by a Dutch coffee fanatic, Alex Kok. His dream was to travel around the world to seek the best coffees. He would carefully roast and grind these high-quality coffee beans to perfection to brew the most indescribably good coffee. One can find and taste the world’s finest coffee collections at Yahava. This is what makes Yahava coffees special. Since then Yahava KoffeeWorks has expanded to 3 cafes in the world – Margaret River and Swan Valley, Australia; and Singapore.

To find out more about the wonders of coffee and food served in KoffeeWorks, we headed over to the one in Singapore and ordered the Iced Mocha, Chicken & Cheese & Mayo Ciabatta and Berries Delight Pancake!

The Jaunt

The aroma of coffee beans wafted into our noses as we walked through the entrance. The cafe was well lit with warm lights and was packed with the usual morning crowd.

The friendly staff took our order at the cashier and we waited for the food to arrive.

“DING DING...!” The coaster pager vibrated. Hooray, food is here!

Every dish and drink were neatly placed on a medium-sized wooden tray. The first dish that caught our eyes was the Berries Delight pancakes. The jiggly and fluffy pancakes were plated with icing sugar, a creamy egg yolk dip, bright red strawberries, mini blueberries and not forgetting the pure white vanilla ice cream. The combination of the hot and sweet pancakes and the freezing milky vanilla ice cream gave the right temperature to the mouth. To add to the flavour, dip it in the egg yolk mixture and you get a buttery and savoury taste. The scarlet-red strawberries provided extra sweetness and a hint of sourness to the pancakes while the blueberries gave a juicy kick, acting as a natural blueberry jam to the pancake.

“Crunch!” is the sound the flaky and crispy freshly baked ciabatta made on the first bite. The saltiness from the cheese and sweetness from the bite-sized chicken pieces topped with mayonnaise were a perfect combination.

Before we get into a food coma, it’s time to taste test the Iced Mocha! A small scoop of coffee ice cream sits on top of the drink. With a slurp, the sudden gush of the particularly strong and bitter taste woke us up. There was a tinge of chocolatey taste and with the help of the ice cream, the coffee tasted a bit more milky and bittersweet. Every slurp is accompanied by the aromatic smell of coffee.

The Verdict

Is it worth going to Yahava KoffeeWorks for a try? If you love cafe hopping, yes! If you need a good breakfast after a long hike on Thomson Nature Park, yes! It is a great spot for a refreshing and relaxing break. There is plenty more food on the menu ranging from waffles, ciabatta, ice cream, pancakes that we haven’t tried. Coffee lovers can also try out various freshly brewed coffee from around the world in their small roastery inside the cafe. However, the taste of the coffee depends on one’s liking as it can be subjective. In Yahava KoffeeWorks in Singapore, the coffee here is mildly strong and a bit milky. So, if you prefer this kind of coffee, you can give it a try at Yahava KoffeeWorks!
